People are still talking about the Michigan Promise… I mean, of course. Maybe we would have forgotten about it if it hadn’t been called the PROMISE. If it had been called the “yeah, maybe you can go to college if I feel like it” scholarship, nobody would care anymore.
The hilarious half-skirt, half-pants Gender Neutral Bathroom sign was removed from this 3rd floor bathroom in the Union that hardly anybody ever sees/uses, and replaced with this dumb, hetero-normative, out of context “family restroom” sign. It’s dumb, and Chris Armstrong and the LGBT commission are frustrated.
Moosejaw is receiving criticism for their jail-themed catalog. Not only is this insensitive to those in jail (kind of a lot of people in Michigan), it’s also confusing and strange.
The IFC has a new president. I guess that means they had an old president, too.
The opinion page is kind of a disaster today. First of all, the daily comes out against the smoking ban because the University has no right to tell anybody not to smoke, or even just to make it slightly harder.
Also in opinions, some law student claims to be a liberal but wants the right to have a gun on campus, coming out in support of that House bill that would override the firearm-free zone ordinance. I guess the state has no right to tell anybody not to carry a gun, or even just to make it slightly harder.
Chris Koslowski, also known as that guy who draws cows, laments that “it’s been tough to be a conservative lately,” because people like Obama, and the GOP isn’t conservative enough. Sounds tough.
Robert Soave rants about all the times he criticized MSA, but says that he now feels bad for them over this whole DPS Oversight Committee thing.
This isn’t in the Daily, but it is in my Facebook news feed, my other most reliable source of local news: OFA phone bank today!

20|Nov|2009 1According to the scale of the stick figure in the wheel chair, apparently only handicapped children can use that restroom.
