+Coverage of the Elm Street beating continues as potential evidence is
lost. Two seniors turned in pictures and a video of the incident on a
memory stick which was promptly lost by the police. The police are blamed
for mishandling the case and the search for the real perpetrators
continues.
+Reports show that many University presidents mismanage their school’s
budget for the athletic department and the presidents “don’t see themselves
as the force for the changes needed.” Mary Sue Coleman plays the role of
Barack Obama as she feels she is the only president who actually has
control over this situation.
+A 1000-space parking structure is set to be constructed on Fuller Road
which will help provide parking spots for those going to the surrounding
hospitals. Some spots for students will be available when the parking
structure opens in 2012 and those are being auctioned in the back of the
daily starting at $900/month.
+On the front page, a picture of medical students playing “bike polo” takes
up the same amount of space as the picture of the football team.
+Daily mis-titles news brief about Berlin Wall anniversary with “Man
Threatens Abortion Doctor”
+Writer and former-GSI Patrick O’Mahen writes an interesting piece on what
it is like to grade as a GSI. He tells horror stories of students
complaining about grades on every essay and makes the argument that
objective testing isn’t really the way to go either. Students give his
article a C+ overall.
+The Michigan football team falls to 5-5 after a 38-36 choke against Purdue
on Saturday. Rich Rodriguez was quoted as saying, “I don’t have a magic
wand and can’t fix this right now.” Troy Woolfolk was quoted as saying,
“Everybody’s just clueless.” Quarterback Tate Forcier was quoted as saying,
“Wait, you mean that points still count in the second half?”
+On top of the football loss, Michigan hockey team suffers back-to-back
losses to Miami (OH) and Michigan soccer loses to OSU. Showing Michigan
sports can do something right Michigan basketball trounced Wayne State
University… in an exhibition game… that didn’t count… for anything.
+Democrats letter to the editor on the millage makes it into today’s paper
instead of ideally when it should have made it in on Friday. As expected,
it makes the point well in a now mildly relevant situation.
+Sudoku puzzle remains most interesting part of the Daily.
