+It takes a village to pass a millage and the millage was defeated by the village. But whoever invested in those 2 and a half pieces of chalk used on the Diag shouldn’t be patting themselves on the backs for their efforts. The students that did come out to the polls voted overwhelmingly in favor of the millage.

+The cover photo is a rather emotional shot of Hatim Eihady as he loses his bid for a city council seat. I must say that the photo lacks a certain elegance. They should have gone for an effect similar to meaningful shot published yesterday, featuring Cousin It standing at a table completely alone, revealing only enough of the creature’s face to see that he/she is blinking. I suppose it’s hard to top a once-in-a-lifetime shot like that.

+MSA wants professors to admit how dull their classes will be before we commit to them during registration. Can I add something to MSA’s resolution just to make it more exciting? I dare the professors to describe their classes without using the words “explore”, “topics”, “facing” or “challenges”.

+The national/global AP wire page throws a fistful of McDonnell/Christie/Bloomberg victory confetti in your face. Proceed with caution.

+Much to my profound disappointment, I agree with almost everything on the viewpoint page. Racist Halloween costumes are inappropriate, it’s possible to insult opposing teams without using homophobic slurs, the state education budget sucks, pay attention the city government. Where’s the sexism? I was counting on some sexism.

+The Daily commemorates the election with a cartoon reminding us that Obama hasn’t cleaned up all of Bush’s messes yet. The word “dookie” is used. Touching.

+The Arts page today may very well be making history. There was no rating below 3 stars, and they even enjoyed a new album from an already established band (Weezer). This is surely unprecedented—can someone confirm that they didn’t sell out or abandon their unique original sound?

+There is a sports page.

PS. If you need a distraction in class (and you always do), I recommend browsing your favorite blogs for posts reminiscing about 11/4/2008.
